Purity is precious. The objective of these guideposts or treatments, are to help increase our capacity for walking in the fullness of Christ. As believers, we have ability, which is a gift by the grace of God (Romans 3:22). It is our spiritual focus that increases our capacity to receive. We are set apart unto God for a purpose. In order for that purpose to be fulfilled, the flow of the Holy Spirit in us must run pure and unadulterated. In John 7, Jesus said, “He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly (his inner self) will flow rivers of living water”. This He spoke concerning the Holy Spirit. During my study of purity as a principle, an old T.V. commercial for drain cleaner came to mind. It compared two clogged drains. One clogged pipe was filled with ‘Draino’ and the other was filled with the competitor’s brand. The pipe with Draino ran clear but the other pipe still had chunks of the clog remaining, yet water was able to run through it. This is a visual example of the lack of purity in our lives. Our spirits are open to receive the flow of the “living water” but because of impurities that remain; the ability to receive is tainted. These impurities relate to many things; sexual impurity, unforgiveness, hatred, anger….anything that interferes with the full revelation of what God has for us.
Purity is living in the Light of truth.
“Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness (being set apart) out of reverence for God” (2 Corinthians 7:13).
