Tenet #3 Practice the presence of God.
What can I say? I have attempted to blog about many different topics…
But if I say I’ll never mention the LORD or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it! Jeremiah 20:9 NIT
I am working on my book, to finally publish but apparently the words are working on me! My plan was to be more inspirational and less specific but that would be dishonest. It has been the grace of God from the beginning. I understand that many people have been hurt by religion or had situations in life where they are sure a loving God would not have allowed it to happen, I get that because I have felt that way myself! It’s not my place to convince you otherwise. However, I do have a formula that made my life over and continues to thrill me when I least expect it.
Practicing the presence of God is simple. So simple it can be extremely difficult for the control freak or the hurried and worried. The Lord’s presence is always available but it takes practice to be still. I do not mean standing still and motionless but spiritually still, yet receptive. For example, I went to the beach on Saturday morning to enjoy the 1st rays of sunrise. There were a few people walking about or jogging but most people tend to respect the beauty of sunrise. The only sounds were warm breezes through palm leaves and the soft waves rolling on the sand. Spaces such as these help draw your attention to His presence. Nature is a praise on its own. It is definitely a good place to start. Eventually, your practice will find The Lord’s presence while standing 6 feet distance, waiting to checkout in the grocery line.
